• NELC 3804 - Culture and Society in Ancient Egypt

"In this 4-credit-hour research intensive course, students will develop an advanced understanding of how cultural traditions and transformations over time impacted the daily lives of the ancient Egyptians. These traditions and

transformations will be explored through six thematic modules: The Land of Egypt and its People, Art and Writing, Economics and International Relations, Women and Children, Religion and Ritual, and Life after Death and the Legacy of Ancient Egypt. Students will critically examine the key evidence of how cultural contacts caused Egyptian traditions to be transformed into new ideologies, gain experience with analyzing real ancient objects through digital museum collections, and share their research through a student-led symposium."

• HISTORY 4675 - Seminar in World History: Researching Globalization in the Premodern Past (IP)

"This course will go deep in time to investigate premodern “globalizations” that connected large groups of people around the world through long-distance trade and cultural exchange from the Bronze Age to the Global Middle Ages. We will focus on research methodology and the practice of writing through the completion of an in-depth study of primary sources, artifacts, and the historiography of premodern trade. Throughout this course, we will theorize and historicize globalization as a concept and a lived reality, develop skills in conducting research and analysis of source materials, and develop an effective, evidence-based historical research paper."

• PUBAFRS 2368 - Nonprofit Communications & Grant Writing (IP)

"In this course, you will sharpen your communication skills through practice, self-critique, peer review, purposeful reading and studying the basic mechanics of logical argument and English grammar. While this course considers a variety of types of writing, it covers two in depth: policy writing and grant writing. You will learn in class, through peer-to-peer engagement, and through readings/video/resources, to build your nonprofit communications skills. By learning how to speak and write to a variety of audiences, you will come to appreciate the importance of delivering a concise and convincing argument."

• PUBAFRS 3140 - Nonprofit Management and Governance (IP)

"This is a survey course that provides students with theoretical knowledge and practical tools needed to manage nonprofit organizations. A broad range of topics are covered in this course. After an overview of the nonprofit sector, we will explore various aspects of nonprofit management such as organizational creation, strategic planning, performance evaluation, board governance, executive leadership, human resources, finance, marketing, and collaboration. We will use multiple learning methods such as case studies, presentations, discussions, and interviews to better understand options for addressing managerial challenges experienced by nonprofits."

In our exploration of the ways in which historians investigate the past, we will look at different purposes for studying history, a wide array of sources that are used in examining the past, and the diverse approaches that historians embrace."

"This course is an introduction to the study of various aspects of textiles from the basics of fiber, yarn, and fabric characteristics to textile coloration and finishes. Students will also learn to understand good textile choices for specific end uses, laundering and care of textiles and clothing, and industry trends. Students will learn the fundamental language associated with textiles and fabrics in the fashion industry."
